Christmas in alaska ,
awe the memories,
ok here is how it usually goes , this year though its a toss up affair sad to say, mostly because i went to school this past summer and during that time i got pretty sick due to my bad teeth. then aug they began to try to pull them cancled appointments later and then finally they got me in and in nov just before thanksgiving they pulled the ones they wanted too. i tell you what i say thank god thanks giving dinner is what it is. and our ancestors didnt bring beef jerky or dried fish or some other hard food to the table cause all of it was soft enough for me to eat LOL
ok that brings me to christmas
usual things that have happened are
week end after thankgiving the grands spend the week end there the families official decorating committy,
they arrived this year on time butttttt we only put up just the tree and the little village beneath it is all.
this is the first year hubby wont be home for christmas. at all he is working out of town at a mine as a cook. and the holiday pay is what he was looking at so no hubby this year not until jan 9th. long haul for him. i got pretty sad over it for awhile and then thought you know what its got to be really tough on him and he is doing his best to make sure all of us is taken care of. he is doing this for all of us. so i finaly tired to get into the swing of it all.
sigh even the cookie bake off isnt going well. laura my 13 year old grand daughter is busy doing alot of things but not the cookie bake off so it has to happen today. cause hubby wants some cookies friday shipped to him yikes that is tomorrow
so the flour is going to fly around here today LOL
the ginger bread house making is going to be a lucky thing if we even get to it.
and i am so behind on christmas its not funny ususally i begin to sew or knit in the summer months and have gotten alot of shopping done by then for alot of the people on my list. but like i said this year due to alot of things that didnt happen. so i am doing alot of shopping now and wishing i had it all done long time ago which is what i like best.
i am still trying though.
i worked like mad on this pouncho for my daughter had it 3/4 done and ran out of yarn thought ok go to joanns buy some more its not a popular yarn :) right?
i mean last year tons of it was left over after christmas.
boy not this year. this year there wasnt one skein of it left. so i had to buy a whole batch of new yarn to work this thing. and new needles in bamboo for me of course. so while i can i am going to be knitting like a mad woman on this trying to get it done in time.
dec 22nd is my birthday too. and even that day is going to be nuts .
gett up early go pay the fuel people then run to the bank shop for hubby take his things to the helecopter pad and ship it off to camp. run back pay a few bills then shop some more make sure i get to the gorcery store in time for the drawing since they called me and said my name is in the big pot for the final one.
and then what i would like to do is just dissapear. run off find some place quiet and spend my birthday lone for a change but that wont happen i was thinking of st teresas shrine but that is a very long 2o some mile drive out our roads and way to dangerous this time of year. sooooooooooo i am sure i will have to come home and spend it with the kids. LOL oh well that is what it is about anyway.
this year i get to turn 9 again.
my grand daughter said one year that no one was as old as her mom and she was 24 at the time. laura couldnt get that grandmoms were tons older then the moms LOL she has asked me how old i was that year. i had told her and it didnt take. so i said ok how old do you think i am she said well i dont know so you can be the same age as me but not older them mom she is old old old. LOL
so from that yearr on i got to be the same age each year as my grand daughter that year i turned 6. but when i was about to hit 10 the youngest grand daughter got mad and said its my turn this year grandma has been your age now long enough its my turn so i turned 6 again that year LOL
this year i turn 9 again LOL works for me for sure .
